TA21 in St Joseph’s
.Here in St Joseph’s learning occurs in a mixed ability setting. Teachers taking part in continuous professional development with Bridge 21 and the Postgraduate Certificate in 21st Century Teaching and Learning has equipped them to support students in their learning. One hour classes were introduced in September 2015. Teachers are facilitators of the learning in their classroom and many have moved away from the traditional classroom layout with more students working in groups. With this, changes in methods of assessment have occurred and students now submit or present their work to their teacher digitally with the support of iPads. Students use applications like Padlet, Mentimeter, Quizlet and Kahoot in place of paper based methods and emphasis is place on 21st century skills as well as oral language presentations. As a result of TA21 we have innovative learners who are creative with technology. Students direct their own learning and are not afraid to try new things. TA21 supports a structured learning environment which accomplishes quality of learning and peer interaction
