St Joseph's won the toss and batted first.
A batting masterclass from Finn McGee was the cornerstone of St Josephs convincing victory. After an opening partnership of 62 between Hasan and Armstrong, McGee came to the middle and scored rapidly in a partnership of 156 with Callum Armstrong (68). McGee’s innings was a mixture of classy defence and flowing shots and featured 15 fours and 2 sixes
St Columba’s College bowlers worked hard in the hottest period of the day but chances were few and far between. St Jospehs were the happier team at the break.
The St Columbas College batters set about trying to emulate their opponents tactics of batting the overs and accumulating a big score. Opener J Dijsktra made 50 before being run out, a dismissal that would feature more than once. The biggest partnership of the innings was an even 50 between the Djikstra brothers with Seb making 58.
The St Josephs attack was relentless and wickets from both Butterly’s, Armstrong and Morris saw St Columbas go from 114/3 to 181 all out and gave them their maiden Senior 1 victory
