Congratulations to the sixteen students and PE Teachers Ms Ryan,Ms Mullany and Mr Hussey who completed projects for this years PEXpo '23 held in Dublin City University.
For the exhibition, students are invited to submit projects under one of nine headings, including the power of sport, technology in sport, well-being, components of fitness, nutrition, games development, psychology, and two categories linked to the physical education curriculum for the Leaving Certificate.
A cash prize of €250 will go to the best overall projects in junior (first to third year) and senior (fourth to sixth year) categories.
Winners in the nine categories will recieve trophies and medals. Projects are judged not only on their content but also on presentation and the ability of the students to explain their subject and their conclusions Judges this year includeg Dublin footballer Philly McMahon, Olympic steeplechaser Michelle Finn and Irish volleyball coach Andrei Molnar. A new supporter of PExpo the year is the ‘Dare to Believe’ programme, run in conjunction with the Olympic Federation of Ireland. Two Irish Olympians – sprinter Marcus Lawler and rower Aifric Keogh attended PExpo ’23 to promote the values of ‘Dare to Believe’.
Special congratulations to Junior Components of Fitness Award: Comparing the Fine Motor Skills of GAA Players by Emma McKeown, Saoirse Cashell and Ava O’Connor.
Junior Sports Psychology Award: The Effect of Different Types of Feedback on Skill Development by Éabha McBride, Stephanie Cherish Dan, Leah Mullen and Layla Nolan. The girls also won Junior Overall PE Xpo Winner: A fantastic achievement.
