Huge congratulations to Martha Feely in Third Year and Amy Roche in Fifth Year.
They placed 2nd (Martha) and 3rd (Amy) both in the senior category in the national competition.
Two students have written articles to highlight environmental concerns close to their hearts.
Well done Amy and Martha. Both girls have consistantly worked hard to produce these articles.
They are wonderful role models for younger students who we hope will follow in their footsteps .
Young Reporters for the Environment engages students in environment-focused citizen journalism, looking at issues and solutions and reporting on them through articles, photos, or videos.
Martha has also been invited to speak at a future Green-Schools webinar during Biodiversity week and both Amy and Martha will be involved in the launch of next year's YRE programme during Climate Action Week.
So, well done to the girls! Thanks also to Mr Delahunty who has supported the girls every step of their journey.
On Wednesday, May 22nd Martha presented her Project to 30 National Schools via Zoom. The Webinar for Biodiversity Week featured three talks about Invasives species. The other two speakers are Aengus Kennedy, Green Schools Officer and Liane Costello, Clean Coasts Marine Biodiversity Officer. Aengus gave a general introduction to invasives and why they are a threat and give a couple examples of Rhododendron and mink. Liane spoke about Marine invasives and how they travel. It was a wonderful achievement for Martha to present her work in this setting.
