College Awareness Week 2019
College Awareness Week in St Joseph’s involves many events and activities organised to promote the benefits of going to college and help students of all ages to become college ready.
It’s a fantastic opportunity to begin the conversation about going to college and helps students to realise that having a post secondary school plan is important and necessary. In this school we celebrate the benefits of all aspects of Further Education, this could be an apprenticeship, a Fetac/PLC course or a CAO application to a third level Institution.
This year St Joseph's is hosting another ‘Speed Careers’ event where local businesses, parents and role models come into the school and spend time with our 2nd year students talking about their careers and how they found themselves in the role they are in. This is always an informative, beneficial and fun day for all the 2nd years involved.
We also have many guest speakers and talks from our local 3rd level Education Institutions that have welcomed our 6th year students in the past. This includes, DCU, Maynooth University, Colaiste Dhulaigh and NCI. We are also very fortunate to have talks from both the ESB and Accounting Technicians Ireland on potential Apprenticeships that our students may also want to apply for when they finish school.
