Euroscola 2020

St Joseph's were very proud to receive runner up in the Euroscola 2020 video clip competition. A video which contained excellent ideas on how to combat climate change and how we can become more sustainable across the EU. A practical look at the damage that plastic is doing to our environment was taken and how we can work with Government and the EU to cut down how much plastic we are using.

Congratulations to all the students and teachers involved. A super achievement.

Teachers and Students Representing St Joseph's at "Our Voices Our Schools"

The Department of Children and Youth Affairs (DCYA) launched the "Our Voices Our Schools" resouce to support young people's voice in school.

St Joseph's has always believed in the importance of the Student Voice so it was brilliant to be present and part of this resource launch.

As Mr. Byrne said: "This is a huge step forward for the Student/Learner Voice efforts on the national stage" a sentiment a lot of us fully agree with in St Joseph's. This is an important toolkit that provides a great platform for young people to participate in important decisions that affect their lives.

Minister Zappone - "All people in our school have the right to learn, be happy and be different"

Well done to all the teachers and students present at the launch.
All reports back are unanimous in what an uplifting and encouraging day was had by all.

5th Year Mentoring Workshop with Michelle Stowe

5th year mentors have an important job in leading and guiding their 2nd year mentees. So it is important that they are supported. Michelle Stowe took the 5th years on their own restorative journey helping them to develop key skills to support the 2nd years. It was brilliant seeing the fruits of this work when 5th years took full ownership of their mentor session with their 2nd year groups. Well done to the students and teachers for organising.

SVP Christmas Hampers 2019

Another wonderfully successful year again for St Joseph's and Saint Vincent de Paul. On Thursday 12th of December over 350 hampers were made in St Maurs GAA. Well done and congratulations to all the students, staff and past pupils who got involved in anyway they could. Collecting food items in form classes, bringing in additional items to the food points in the school, helping with the fundraising and volunteering to assemble all the hampers. It has been a busy but outstandingly worthwhile few weeks building to assembly day.

A special shout out to Mr. Reade, Ms Gibbons & Nuala O' Donoghue who's organisations skills know no bound. A lot has to be done in the background to make sure this venture runs as smoothly as it does.

Hugely important and meaningful work that the community of Rush are all the better for. A time that brings out the best in us all.
Thank you to everyone for their kindness and generosity.

St Joseph's on Ice

A very very busy term for our Transition Year students from September to December.

What better way to celebrate and treat our hard working and deserving TY students than with a spot of ice skating.

A truly deserved reward for their volunteering, enthusiasm & attitude towards embracing new challenges.

Well done Transition Years, we look forward to see what you get up to in 2020!

Christmas Quiz, Santa Claus & Clive The Reindeer

We had a super end to the term with our annual Christmas Quiz. The atmosphere was electric with fun, happiness and pure joy. Students tested their general knowledge, figured out some festive dingbats, put their emoji translating to the test. They also analysed some questionable (at times) staff singing and tried to figure out the staff baby pictures. While this was going on staff members also had an opportunity to bring their own children to school for the day to meet our Santa in Santa's Grotto with Clive the Reindeer sporting his new Christmas Jumper. Clive helped Santa give presents to the boys and girls.

Well done and thanks to everyone who helped make this day as wonderful and special as it was.

What a wonderful way to end the term!

Santa 1.jpgSanta 3.jpg

Wishing everyone avery happy & peaceful Christmas with a super New Year ahead.
See everyone back again on Monday the 6th of January 2020.
