Catholic Schools Week 2022 will be celebrated from Sunday 23 January to Sunday 30 January 2022 on the theme ‘Catholic Schools: Living life to the full'.
Catholic Schools Week is an annual all-Ireland celebration which invites schools to give expression to the ethos of Catholic education. It acknowledges the contribution that Catholic post-primary schools make, not just to Irish society, but to the mission of the Church.
As we live through an unprecedented time of challenge and uncertainty, our faith and our resilience can be tested. We can ask questions like ‘Will things ever be the same again?’, ‘When can we get back to normality?’, ‘Where is God in all of this?’ In response to this, we reflect upon how Catholic schools are communities of faith and resilience.
In Catholic schools, we are called to support each other and to have faith in the promise of the Good News. Catholic schools are inspired by the belief that God has created each one of us with a capacity to give love and receive love. This love is bound in faith and is more resilient than any virus. Jesus teaches us to love one another as he has loved us. This week, we celebrate the gifts and talents we have in following Jesus’ teaching.
Here in St Josephs' the RE department will deliver lessons during their RE classes each day this week which will concentrate on the sub-theme for each day, giving students space and time to engage in dialogue and reflect on what it means to be part of a Catholic school. There will also be a short reflection that will be read over the intercom each day. This is a time where, as a school community, we can take a few moments to sit in quiet reflection together.
